Thanksgiving

We had a great time going to Grandma Jane and Papa Hood's house for Thanksgiving. We ate and ate and ate! We cut down our beautiful Christmas tree and the kids had fun riding around the field on Grandpa's new toy. I don't think he will be doing any serious hill climbing on this sled but the kids had a blast.

Duane ran the 11th Annual Idaho State Journal Pocatello Marathon on Saturday, September 4th. He did a great Job. When he decided he wanted to run a marathon he could barely make it around the block but one year later and 40 lbs lighter he was ready. He trained extremely hard the last 4 months. When he crossed the finish line he looked like he wanted to die but he accomplished his goal. Wow, what motivation! He really enjoyed the experience and is even thinking about running it again. I think that you have to be a little bit crazy to want to run 26 miles but truely admire the athletes who do.

We had a great time at Duane's families cabin. Quinn and Bobi came for a week. The kids loved going down and playing on the creek. It was great fishing! We caught 40 fish in just over an hour. We had Wyatt's little fishing pole and I had my fly rod. It was nice to get away.

Sorry everyone it has been so long since I updated our family blog. Grandma Jane has been giving me little reminders to sit down at the computer and post a few pictures. Our family has been pretty busy this summer but isn't that what summer is all about. We are looking forward to visiting Star Valley next week and seeing all of the Wrays in the Tetons.

After visiting the New Hope Human Society I thought it might be a good idea to adopt a dog. I feel in love with Roscoe the next day I took the kids to visit him and they loved him too. They have been playing with him in the backyard ever since. We are just trying him out for a week but Duane and I have talked about it and we are sure we are going to adopt him. He is so gentle and kind. We don't know how old his is but we think he is only a few years old. They told me that that he is a Golden Retriever but he looks more like a Setter to us. Needless to say he is a mut (we think).

Dad, Duane, Robert, Stacy and I went for a nice ride the day after Christmas we had alot of fun. Roberts sled broke down. I want to say the drive train went out but I have no idea. All I know is the track wouldn't even roll. Which created some problems. The snow was deep without a real base and without the track turning they couldn't even drag the snowmobile. While the gals waited in the truck the boys worked on getting the sled back the truck. They ended up turning Rob's sled around and lifting the back end up on top of the back of dad's old 700 so the track was completely off of the ground. They strapped it down and Robert took off while Duane and my dad rode double on the 800 (Cozy). The only problem was they we weren't on a groomed trail and Robert would get going a little bit and then bury both sled. This happened several times! By the the time they got back to the truck they were pretty beat.

Annual Christmas Ice Hockey Match

Kirk, Vaughn, Duane, Candace, Robert, Brenda, Ryan, Bodie. Robert built an ice rink in his front yard this year. He has put a lot of time and work into building the rink. We had a great time. Stac is expecting again so she didn't play instead she watched the kids and provided some mean hot chocolate and hot cider.

Shae wasn't really into Christmas. She was just sad all morning. Around 10 a.m. she started having fun with her toys. Janeil gave her the same doll that Santa gave her so she now has twins. She loves playing with her dolls, she is a little mother. Wow, having a girl is way different then a having a boy. I have to help her feed the dolls and about every five seconds I have to help her wrap a new blanket around them. Thank goodness their clothes are attached or she would be undressing them and trying to redress them every second of the day.

Shae had fun on the fourwheeler with Duane while cleared snow at my parent's house. Duane was having so much fun he went ahead and plowed Robert's lane and widow's driveway who is in my parent's ward. It snowed everyday that we were in Star Valley so the next day Duane decided to go play around on the backhoe while my dad was at work. Watch go Vaughny!

We had so many leaves to pick up, so Saturday we spent the morning doing yard work. Duane's dad came over with his riding lawn mower and helped us mow up as as many leaves as we could.

We had a great Halloween. We went trick or treating around the block and went to a little birthday/Halloween party grandma and pa pa's house. Then we went to the trunk or treat at the church. We were only at our house a few minutes I wanted to handout candy for a little while. I have always wanted to be the cool house that hands out full size candy bar. We had a lot kids come to our house. Next year we will have to get more candy bars.

Wyatt and Shae went to a little Halloween party. Wyatt had a great time but wouldn't get off his bouncy horse and Shae had a little freak out moment during the picture. We decided to call Shae the cowardly lion because Halloween was a little traumatizing for her. In the corner of the picture you can see me running to get out to the way in hopes to get a picture of Shae.

It is a tradition for our family to go to the pumpkin patch. We were excited to find out that Worland has a great patch. Unfortunately the battery in my camera died, typical. But I did however get one picture. Next year I will do better.

Wyatt always wants to help in the kitchen. Shae just wants eat everything you are trying to cook. She thinks she is so big and wants to do everything that Wyatt is doing. I have to really watch her around the stove. Wyatt is super picky eater but he has a little bit of an ego so if he helps kitchen he will eat anything.

When we woke this morning we found a fresh blanket of snow. Yes it is only the first part of October! The kids could not wait to go out and play so I put some coats and shoes on over there pjs and they went out to help Duane clear the walks. They had a blast! Shae didn't even care that she keep falling in the snow.

The kids and I had a great trip to Yellowstone and Star Valley. We didn't see much wildlife but it was very beautiful drive and great weather. Shae and Wyatt love to go to Grandma Jane and Pa Pa Hood's house. Shae had fun planning with the kittens at Robert's house. We love seeing our cute cousins.
